Hey guys,

I hate having to do this, name and shame a company, but if its the only way to get attention and my money back or my top up then so be it.

Last Thursday afternoon I completed an online prepaid topup of $10.00 via the normal website that i've always used to my mobile number 022 328 6780. It initially came back with an error saying my card had been declined and to contact customer services. Which I did. This is where my fun started.

I've contacted 0800 32 32 32 last Thursday night, as well as this morning (Monday 7th May) and communicated the above, giving my credit card number, stating that I did the topup on Thursday 3rd May 2012 at 15:34hrs (see my bank statement here). Both times the call centre staff have said that no topup has gone through, which I cant understand as its come out of my visa account.

This morning i've also been to the Northlands Store in Christchurch with my laptop and showed them my bank statement on screen. I've got nothing against any of the staff there, they tried to help me, but were also unable to do anything referring me back to the prepaid help desk 0800 number.

As you'll see here my last topup processed was on Wednesday 18th April 2012.

The store and 0800 number have both suggested I contact my credit card provider to dispute the transaction. Loaded will charge me $15 per disputed transaction and both the Telecom Store and Call Centre staff have said they won't agree to pay this if they're found to be in the wrong. So i'm kinda screwed I think? Pointless paying a $15 fee over a $10.00 Topup.

well as far as I can see the transaction didn't go through only the payment so Telecom don't see it so they are asking you to go back to your bank. Sounds reasonable given they can't see the payment until they check thier statements.

Understand your angst given the amount but see no need to name and shame over a technical hitch.

simply asking your bank to confirm the transation codes etc shouldn't count as 'disputing' it.

You probably need to get your CC company (loaded?) to give you a reference number for the transation that you can give to Telecom for them to search their records. Possibly the transation was applied to someone elses account, or is just sitting there in limbo with nobody's name attached to it, but they will need a ref from loaded to find it I expect.

I've just phoned them, they can't really help until i fill out a disputed transaction form. To be honest i'm of the view that this is Telecom's issue, as far as Kiwibank (LoadedEveryday) are concerned Telecom has taken the money from my visa. They're not going to charge me the $15.00 though which is good news.

If the telecom website cant spit back a voucher number, and two phone calls, plus a visit to a telecom store cant sort this out then i'm giving up. Once I use up these extra value packs i've purchased i'm off to another provider. Normally am one of telecom's biggest fan's but all this pissing round for $10.00 just isnt worth it.

Due to a network upgrade at 4:44pm the 0800 32 32 32 number are unable to answer my call too.

Sorry, just to clarify IIRC the link above doesn't send you a voucher number, the topup is applied directly.

Please PM me your mobile number.

The exact same thing has happened with Kiwibank Debit card and 2 Degrees online top up recently to my mother.
