Interesting article on DNA, talking about Megasoft providing Telecom New Zealand Intl (TNZI) with roaming services:

Xius, the telecom division of Megasoft Ltd., will provide roaming and interoperability solutions to the seven cellular operations of Telecom New Zealand International (TNZI).

The company will also partner with TNZI to provide similar services to emerging mobile network operators and mobile virtual networks operators (MVNOs) across the world, according to G V Kumar MD & CEO Megasoft.

So, Telecom NZ Intl will provide emerging and MVNO service across the world? And most importantly, will this deal help increaee the number of countries where Telecom NZ customers can use their mobile phones?

Solves their Roaming Problem

It is New Zealand's role to send out its bright young men and women to help run the rest of the world. And they go, not hating the country of their birth, but loving it. From this loving base they make their mark on the world.

TNZI are a considerable player in the international connectivity space and as such by leveraging off their existing capability they are able to provide emerging mobile players, through the assistance of 3rd parties such as Xius, with capability that may only have been available to larger mobile operators.

This has nothing to do with expanding the CDMA international roaming capability for TNZ customers.

This announcment relates to other business oportunities that TNZI are involved with. and is completely unrelated to existing TNZ CDMA roaming capability.

So...  what you are saying is that Telecom customers would still need to be provided with a loan GSM handset in order to use the roaming services provided by Xius?

What I am saying is that the services provided by Xius through TNZI and the existing TNZ GSM roaming service (loan phone) are not related. They are seperate services that do not have any intersection.

Telecom lunches new samsung world phone and next year world PDA phones that have roaming using the 02 deal to 160 countries using dual CDMA GSM handsets.

Watch this space, 02 has a big roaming footprint, better than VNZ advertised 100 countries so this will be part of TNZ's answer to the roaming issue, they just need to get WCDMA?CDMA roaming on 850 and other bands so they can roam on Telstras G network,
