Hi

I thought fantastic, Skinny sounds so great. Read through the website - saw where it said they needed 4 hours to transfer the number from my old provider to them. Cool. Went down and got a SIM card, registered it etc.

Then filled in the online form to transfer the number and then grrrrrr. I called them to see if I'd done it correctly and got straight through - still feeling good and they told me that ummmm if I hadn't received a call by 3 then it couldn't be done today. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I applied in plenty of time ie before the 4 hours was up....

THe nice man on the phone said the port thingy guys were very busy...grrrrrrrr....then put in on the website,

So now I have to swap SIMS to check if I've received any texts using my old SIM....not an easy job....and I'm working tomorrow so probably won't pick up the call - double grrrrrr.

Oh well I just vented,

I'm really sorry to hear that you haven't had a great start to Living Skinny.  Whilst I realise it will be too late for you, we are developing an automated porting system which will have them flying through.  I will PM you to get some details so that I can check yours gets completed OK.  cheers  Paul

The OP posted roughly 20 hours ago. An update with the current status would be good.

it takes 2 days to get my number ported last week
the CSR called and told me the time when the port will happened
and emailed me afterwards when the porting process is over
Even through the porting time is a bit long, but no complaints over the service I received, quite happy with that.

This was my experience too, additionally I received a text saying the new number was all go. Happiness filled with the process.

Number portability in all operators take time. Sure, mine was ported from Vodafone to Telecom is half day. My wife's number from Vodafone to 2degrees took a couple of hours only.

But Skinny is very clear in their website:

We have quite a few people wanting to live Skinny but bring their old number over, so right now it'll be 2-3 working days before we get in touch with you to confirm the details. We're trying to go as fast as we can, promise.

Where was the four hours estimate reference?

No response yet accept from Paul, so more than a little disappointment.

For a great deal, this lets the side down.

I so want Skinny, I doesn't my old number. Partner has cancer so I really need it my old number.

The website does say they are busy and it may take 2-3 working days to get in touch.
Then from that time it could take 2-4 hrs.
So I  suspect they hadnt got in touch officially to say they were about to port ??
Does that sound correct??

Living Skinny is on to it. Thanks.

I never saw anything that said 2-3 days. I only saw 4 business hours. I did call them and the man on the line said the porting people were busy but that they would call me after 9 on Friday. That didn't happen so I turned here.

Will let everyone know when it happens. I wouldn't be so precious about my old number but my partner has cancer and the old number is the emergency contact.

Cheers

Yay..............I received an email just now to say it was all up and running.

Thanks Living Skinny. I appreciate it. I wasn't expecting anything until a call came in like the man said on Thursday but hey presto an email came today.

Skinny is such a great idea. So easy. My 80 year old Mum is going on it.

Thank you Skinny team for sorting it.

I guess I was comparing it two the two hours I waiting when switching from another provider to another provider before Skinny was born.
