I am in New York on an XT SGS2, have set it to roaming, shows data connection I think to AT and T but pages won't load. Rang Telecom who said change APN to internet.telecom.co.nz but does not seem to help. Wifi fine.
Can anyone help please!

Action a manual network selection to T-mobile (EDGE) and try data and let us know if that works?

Same issue. Do I check both data roaming and wap? In advanced for network? What should the apn be, leave at WAP.telecom or internet.teleco annoying!

Sorry I mean the packet data selection above the roaming selection box.

You may need to go via the Roaming Menu on the Sim Card and select "Manual" and select TNZ.

Yes you will need to tick both boxes, use packet data and Data roaming also add APN in Access point names to the one telecom gave you, and also make sure green dot is selected for that apn.

Starting to think that its just really slow and may have been better with a local Sim!

I've heard that AT&T is disastrously bad in New York, so it might not be a problem with your phone at all!

Settings -> Phone -> SIM Applications -> Roaming Menu -> Manual -> TNZ -> Accept

That should sort you out.

the way it starts to load and then seems to time out I think this is probably the case. I guess it all goes back through NZ before I see the info on my phone. Sometimes it works but slowly, wifi is fine. Will see how next stop goes, just annoying from a google maps perspective.

Sorry I thought you had an iPhone (my bad!)

Under All Applications -> SIM Toolkit -> Roaming Menu -> Manual -> TNZ

And see if that works.

Otherwise I suggest you ring the roaming helpdesk on +64 3 371 0866 and they can assist you further.

I can report that 2hours nth of NY on Amtrak and normal data reception has been resumed!

I can also report that I had no response at all from 2 emails to the roaming help desk with which I am not impressed.
