Unless skinny offers more plans. Two deg $39 plan has about 1gb, 220 mins, 2500 texts. For similar plan on skinny it is close to impossible.

Or maybe someone can help me choose plan which is close to what i had with two degrees and it was perfect. I joined skinny to give it a go but end of the day it's working out to be more expensive than 2 degrees.

I'm on loose lips and data 600. Need at least 1gb data. But not enough texts. I need about 200 texts a week at the least. 40 mins calling time a week is not enough but not complaining at this stage.

Feel free to suggest plans which might suit my usage and thanks in advance for any help. Geek zone is awesome!

You can buy more than one base plan or addon if you want, just buy one then cancel then buy another one, they just last a week from when you buy them. Skinny is great if your needs fluctuate, but it's probably cheaper for you with your needs on some other provider.

So if i run out of texts on loose lips, and two days left to renew, if i buy the 750 text plan, will i be charged $4? Or if it even possible to have two base plans at one time?

For example I'm on loose lips, use up all texts and mins and still got 3 days left to renew, i add 750 textplan, will i be prorated on that plan for 3 days ?

Also if I'm on 120 add on, and i have two days left torenew, could I buy the same add on again and get prorated for that two days?

Because i can survive on about 600 to 700 mb a month, but 1 GB would make me very happy. Sorry it's a lot of "me" and "I" buy I'm sure there will be others who might benefit from this and also make skinny more desirable.

you are comparing a prepaid plan on skinny with pay monthly from 2Degrees, not surprising that the pay monthly one works out better, assuming your needs are fairly consistent each month.

true, but 2degrees plan is monthly with no term.

right, but it still has the fundamental difference between prepaid insofar as you need to be fairly confident that your usage won't change much month to month.

with prepaid (or any prepaid option) you tend to trade off that lower flexibility of pay monthly for a higher price per minute/sms/MB (not alwasy, but usually) whihc is why comparing a specific set of use cases on account will usually be cheaper, but it may or may not work out cheaper in the real world if your usage fluctuates

so, for example, if you don't need data one week you can choose not to buy it on prepaid, but with on account you buy it every month whether or not you use it.

in your case, 2degrees will be the best for you:-
data - 1 GB national data a month included
mins - accrued + bonus mins
text - definitely cover what you need a month

one thing you need to think about is what phone do you have?.

Agree that two degree is plan but you can change plans easy and no contract.

My phone is Samsung galaxy s2.
Reason I'm giving a go is to trial the internet speeds on xt network. Also I've heard telecom xt skinny network has more coverage than two degree even though i live in Christchurch town.

Just pointing out that it's not just me, couple of my work colleagues are on same boat and we will be moving back to two degrees if skinny do not work out. Hopefully skinny bring in some more plans or it is obvious that by offering marginal plans customers are bound to go over cap and forced to pay normal rates.

This is just a discussion we had earlier during the break.

Ah damn it I have to wait 30 days before it is possible to re join two degrees. Might have to stick with skinny till then.

Yes you can buy new base + addon before the week is up, it simply aggregates the allotments. Just be careful when changing base plans because it remembers the last addon you had associated and purchases that at same time.
