Hi,
I have one of these that I use as an alarm clock.
When Telecom switch off CDMA at the end of this month, does anyone know if the phone will still function as a clock?

Cheers.

Ok, good.

I don't use it as a phone anyway; it's my partner's old phone before she got one of them Samsung touch screen thingies.

Unless of course you can't manually change the time, might be a problem come daylight savings.

I know my cdma phone gets the time from the network  when i turn it on, so if i dont have any signal when i turn it on i don't know what the time is. But you should still be able to set it manually.

Yeah, that's the issue: when the CDMA network goes and there's no time signal transmitted, will I be able to set the time like you can do on a watch? Guess I'll have to wait and see next week...

I don't know if this is correct, but I read that in the states, most CDMA phones wont work at all unless they're actively connected to a CDMA network. I don't know if thats just over there or world wide, but only one way to find out hahaha.

Worst case you have to set your alarm clock time less (?) one hour for half of the year

Edit: Perhaps you could buy some of the gear off Telecom and run a cell site in your wardrobe to keep your alarm clock running

The time will remain correct until the phone is powered down however you can set the time manually. most of the CDMA devices can also set the time manually.

Or...

you could invest watch :-)

or you could just buy a phone that has a supporting network, that just sounds so much easier, don't you think?

The Warehouse are selling a Samsung phone for 2Degrees for $29.......SIM included.

That's a cheap clock.

If $29 is too much, DSE have the same phone for $28.

It works as a phone, too, of course.

I think you should just buy an alarm clock. After the Telecom CDMA network goes down it will be a lot more useful...
