I turned on my cellular data for the first time in ages today, and I got a whole bunch of MMS messages which had been sent a week or more ago.  Are these not supposed to work without cellular data switched on?  Or am I being naieve?

naive

MMS is a packet switch data service so if it's off the service will not work

To my knowledge, MMS only works via your mobile data provider.

MMS messages require the cellular data to be turned on - they cannot be downloaded by Wifi. However there is no data charge to retrieve them.
