It's out with old (XtraMSN) and in with new (Yahoo!Xtra), with Yahoo's new partnership with Telecom New Zealand.

See: http://www.telecom-media.co.nz/releases_detail.asp?id=3401&page=index for more details.

Yahoo!7 is an incredibly stupid name. Like NineMSN, and other names with numbers...

They had a good thing going with xtramsn. Now this isn't even a partnership with Yahoo. Its asubsidiary of their aussie operation. This has go to be the stupidest thing ever!

Nope, it's a partnership with a partnership... Not even with a subsidiary.

Really, really stupid.

The current Yahoo!7 site supposedly for AU & NZ really only caters for the AU user community. I am a Yahooligan and would definitely like to see more NZ content... although I assume we will still have xtra's homepage with a link to Yahoo mail.

*yawn*

Boring!

Cheers, Stevo

Do you guys ever considered that the enormous amount of visitors to XtraMSN is due to the fact it's the default homepage for hundreds of thousands of browsers (if not millions) in New Zealand, and as soon as MSN leaves the deal the default page will be something completely different?

Check this: the default page is not xtramsn.co.nz, but a Microsoft link with a redirect. Microsoft can link to whatever they want once Xtra leaves the partnership - unless they have a second, separate contract in place.

Yes I recall having this discussion a while back. The decision is flat out dumb, no other way to put it.
