I have a 2degrees Samsung Galaxy S3 phone that I have transferred to Telecom. Unfortunately 2Degrees appear to have hard coded certain things like Voicemail speed dial is permanently set to 2Degrees. I can find the settings for this but it will not allow me to change it which is silly
Anyone know how to force the 1 key on dial pad to change to telecoms voice mail number
Surely I dont have to blow the  phone away and install a new ROM to get access?

If you flash the Telecom ROM over top via Odin it should be fine.

When I did this from the VFAU to the AU Unbranded ROM it didn't reset the phone. All my apps, settings, data etc stayed the same (It did remove the stock App VF ship in their firmware).

YMMV

The voicemail number certainly isn't hard coded into the 2d firmware. I have a 2d SGS III and have it set to the VF voicemail platform.

You will however suffer degraded battery life on XT using a 2d handset since XT doesn't support fast dormancy, I would recommend hacking the phone to change the fast dormancy setting at a bare minimum.

I have tried and the only way I coudl get near the settings was to  go from Phone/menu/Call Settings/VoiceMail SettingsVoicemail number
If i try to change that number to telecom either by typing it in or selecting the V oicemail contact it comes up with "Voice Mail Change unsuccessful"
Did you do it a different way

Another question what about the fastdormancy app in the PlayStore does it do what is claimed? and as a matetr oif interest how come both Vodafone & 2Degrees have smart fastdormancy but telecom doesn't
Maybe its that great huawei gear that 2degrees bought

That's where you change it.

I have no problems on my phone setting whatever I want in there.

The Fastdormancy app on the market works fine. You need to be rooted.

2 Degrees don't support Fast Dormancy.

Really? That's the reverse of what other posters here have said. From other reading I understood that Vodafone and 2Degrees did support it, but Telecom XT didn't.

Putting telecom firmware on would be a step backwards. If you're going to change the software, put the worldwide rom on and go from there - then you'd actually get timely updates.

I agree but anyway just an update on my problem. I rebooted phone and it now lets me change the voicemail number so pressing key 1 now calls Telecom
I decided to finally get around to rooting my phone and added fastdormancy from the market which allowed me to toggle dormancy.  I  then added Titanium and got rid of some of the annoying features on phone. I use K9 for email but the official Gmail app still  pulls down mail so I used Titanium to Freeze the Gmail app so Hooray its effectively gone. Likewise with the standard messaging app as I use GoSMSPRO for sms.
All in all phone is looking much nicer. Thanks for help everyone

Well...kind of....to quote myself from another thread

"I bought an international model from Oz and flashed a 2 Degrees ROM on so I could use it as a Snapper card (and have the balance of the Snapper SIM displayed in the app). However, the question of whether or not to disable\enable Fast Dormancy with 2 Degrees is slightly trickier. It seems Vodafone do in fact support Fast Dormancy and 2D don't. So since a 2D phone can use both 2D and VF networks depending on where you are, what setting should you use?

I installed "Phone Explorer" which shows what Operator's cell tower you're currently connected to. I found that at work and at home where I spend the most time, I'm connected to a 2D tower so I've left Fast Dormancy disabled."
