A few days ago I had the connection issues that were discussed in this thread:
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=39

This was apprently resolved, and indeed I could again access sites that I wasn't able to get to before. But the day this issue got fixed my connection went down due to, apparently, a central-NI wide failure at Telecom. My connection was down until about 10pm on Monday.

It's now back up, but I'm continuing to have some pretty major problems. A lot of sites are failing to finish loading, including, for example, facebook, which has various broken images every time I load it, and Chrome gives me a continuously spinning circle. I'd had similar issues on other websites too.

This is frustrating - I chose telecom because despite being the most expensive ISP, they were supposed to be the most reliable. Reliability means more to me than anything, but this is ridiculous lately. Anyone know what's going on?

Have you spoken with the helpdesk. Both issues are resolved so if you are having an issue you really should get them to check out if something is wrong with your line.

I would be surprised if it's my line considering the issue exists only on some sites.

I note that facebook loads fine over https, indicating that it's another issue with Telecom hardware.

I've checked the monitoring service which does a check on Facebook across a whole raft of regular ADSL circuits NZ wide and it's not having an issue.  Talking with the 3rd line support folks they aren't getting any reports of issues right now.

I would highly recommend calling the Broadband Helpdesk on 0800 225 598 and speaking with them as they can diagnose anything that may be untoward on your line.

I assume you haven't changed your DNS servers you use or tutu'ed with any other setting on your broadband connection.

What are your line stats looking like?

In Palmy, my broadband's been on the blink since this morning.

Runs for 30-40m then dead - reboot time !

Telecom are looking into it...
