Well, having reading the press release:

http://www.telecom-media.co.nz/releases_detail.asp?id=3862&page=index

Wow the HTC 8S is released today, I'll check the website - nope not there, I'll chat to the sales person and the sales person knew nothing about it. I then rang up the local Upper Hutt Store and they have nothing in stock at all.

I don't want to sound like a whiner but why announce a release date of 6 December when you don't even have any in stock and none of the staff know what is going on?

Seems like the launch of the phone has been pushed out by a few days as these things happen.

I had a chat with the PR folks and they are looking to update the Press Release online to reflect the updated date but it should be coming out around mid next week.

All good - I went into Harvey Norman today in Lower Hutt and they had one left in stock. Kind of annoying that Telecom seem to be keen to win over customers but can't be bothered moving heaven and earth to ensure that they have phones in stock so punters coming off the street can leave with it in their hand on the same day.
