If i had 3 uniden DECT cordless phones using one jackpoint downstairs and 3 panasonic DECT cordless phones using a jackpoint upstairs would I be able to use all the phones normally as if they were all using 1 base station even though they would not be?

One more thing - Is there a limit on how many phone jackpoints can be in use by phones in a house?
I think I remember something about a phone line only having so much power to ring a certain number of phones

I think that the Uniden phones will only 'talk' to the Uniden base. Same with the Panasonics.

As for your other Q, all land line phones and base stations have an RN value. I think you can't exceed about 5.0 per phone line.

If the panasonic phone was in a call and someone picked up the uniden would the uniden hear the conversation on panasonic?

What do you think would be the maximum RN value for a base station?

If both base stations are connected to the same line they work the same as if they were fixed line phones - but normaly only one handset can talk to the basestaion at a time and that some handset/baseset combinations will not connect to the line if it is busy (being used on another phone)

I'm not sure, have you tried the above scenario to see what occurs?

All land line phones should have a sticker on them stating their RN value (usually about 1.0. I just checked our Uniden base station and its RN is 1.0), I think it's a part of them getting their required Telepermit.

The good thing about DECT phones is you can have heaps of handsets and it doesn't effect the RN value.

DECT phones that are GAP compatible allow handsets and base stations to be interchangeable.

Unfortunately for you 99% of Uniden products are not GAP compatible, and many are not even fully compliant with the DECT standard. Mixing and matching virtually every other brand of handset works fine.
