Hi
We recently moved house. Using speedtest.net our ADSL speed at our old house was 13 mbps+ however in our new house which is in the Layline in Whitby we only get between 6 and 7 mbps. I have pasted below the stats from our modem. Is there any obvious reason for this or should I ring telecom.

One should never expect the same speed when moving house, ADSL Speed is related to distance from the serving cabinet / exchange

If you want the best performance get a master filter installed but this does not mean you are going to start getting 20Mbps DL

The sync rate is a little low for the attenuation.

Have you had a master filter installed at your new home?

I haven't installed one. This is the first time i have heard of a master filter. What would it look like and where would it be located? I have the inline filter installed on the jackpoints that we are using however I assume that this is something different.

inline filter is not master filter and when master filter is installed the inline filters should be removed

I had a look and I cannot find one. Who would normally install these. Telecom or my electrician and how much would you normally expect to pay?

He only covers Auckland & Waikato - wouldn't go as far south as Wellington.

If as others have suggested the OP is in a UFB area I wouldnt waste my time installing a splitter when it is working, instead just get the move to fiber sorted out and be rid of dirty old copper, Its not in the VDSL coverage area so is probably not going to be a huge amount better with a splitter - certainly not getting anywhere near 20 megabits due to distance.

Cut your losses, cut the copper and get fiber. You are lucky enough to have it available in the street, just call your ISP and order it.

IMO ISPs should not be able to provision new copper services in areas with UFB available. It would stop this problem from happening since fiber is the same speed everywhere.

He looks right just get some fibre forget ADSL you are not even in range of VDSL so your connection won't be great on ADSL. Snap's website says the address is good to go. Or you could get unlimited data with Fibre from Orcon for $99.

I'm not far away in Camborne on UFB and these guys are right - jump into UFB. Costs nothing to get it hooked up.
