I used to be able to have a connection of 13.2 down but most of the time its 11.6 . I have tried different filters and also unplugged all together over night.
Thanks for your reply. No I don't have a master splitter installed. I have 2 phone outlets but only one used. Not sure what the trace was for just thought it may help
I see that telecom installs them for around $199 I think. If I was to get one installed approx what sort of connection would I be looking at based on modem stats.
Hi, assuming the 29dB attenuation reflects the real line length and not artifically loaded by other POTS devices across the line or negative effects of stubs within your house wiring then 12Mb/s is not bad.
The only way you can be sure you will get optimum performance is to fit a master filter or re arrange your wiring so that your modem is connected via an inline filter to a single socket with no other wiring connected to it other than the unsplit inbound line.
Hi, if you can trace your phone wiring and reduce it down to one socket, or if its daisy chained of from the demarc to a socket and then to the final socket that the modem is at then a master filter will not achieve much. In this setup the modem would not be best at the mid socket, ie needs to be at the physical end of the line.
