Since the events of last week involving Yahoo, my iPhone 4s will not fetch mail over 3G. It tells me either my username or my password is wrong.

There is no problem over wi-fi, with the same username and password.

There is no problem accessing the internet with either 3G or wi-fi.

I changed both password and username via Settings to no avail.

Helpdesk not much help - probably too preoccupied restoring service to other users.

Anyone got any ideas what is going on?

I see that this is in the Telecom forum, but it could be interpreted a couple of ways. Are you with Telecom for phone, email, or both?

Do you have ANY other devices that might collect your emails? Tablets, Servers, Other PC's, Phones?

Do EVER log into yahoo webmail, even to check your password?

This could potentially be a pop block issue. You should call telecom perhaps, if you get the right person they might be really helpful.

Is your iPhone set to use pop, imap, or 'yahoo' native method for collecting mail?
Do you use push or fetch? Try manual fetch until the issue is solved.

Thanks for that. I wasn't sure whether to ask this under an iPhone issue or a Telecom one. I am with Telecom.

Simba:  I am with Telecom.

What are you with Telecom for?

Email - if so, Yahoo! or xtra?

Phone / 3G data?

Broadband when using WiFi?

Thanks for your answer, Dairyxox.

I have an iPad and a laptop as well as the iPhone. All are configured the same way with Telecom.

I occasionally login to Yahoo mail. I changed the password yesterday and repeated the process on all my devices.

I use pop on an hourly push. I'll see what happens on manual fetch.

Once again, thank you.

Have you tried on WiFi at different locations, i.e. where it will go over a non Telecom Internet connection? It may be an authentication issue, but will work over a Telecom connection.

I'm with Telecom for everything. I rarely use Yahoo Xtra but I occasionally check it out. It works fine.

My broadband is via wi-fi.

The only problem is on my iPhone.

Thank you for your response.

If one of those other devices is configured incorrectly that could cause the pop block, logging into the webmail would release the block.....so its still a possibility.

Check each of your devices carefully that UN's and PW's are correct and that they send receive okay.
Set all your devices to fetch manually until this is sorted.

Coffeebaron

Thank you for that.

So far, I have only tried wi-fi at home so I don't know how it would be with another wi-fi service.

Log in again to webmail via computer, then check again. Try restarting phone. I use the yahoo! preset to create the account on the iphone.

If I recall, you'll need to try removing the account and re-setting it up, but do this manually don't select Yahoo! from the list of providers. To be safe, setup a 2nd account manually and just set the old one to manual until you're happy the new account works. I would suggest using IMAP (have been using it and works for me on my Xtra account for sometime now).
