A couple days ago I received a text from Telecom that mTopup is closing soon. The text reads:

From Telecom: the mTopup service will no longer be available from the end of this month. Please visit http://m.telecom.co.nz/topup for further options.

Could this be a prank txt or is Telecom really shutting down mTopup?

Yes mTopup will be ending the end of this month. Cry

You can however still use the online topup via credit or debit card.

And if your prepay runs out how do you get online to top up??  This was one of the best features of Mtopup you didn't need any credit to top up..  That's is how I topped up our prepay data sticks..

http://m.telecom.co.nz/yt Mobile Version
and
http://www.telecom.co.nz/ytmobile Desktop Version

are both zero rated, and you can topup using a credit/debit card in there.

Although they use different credit card payment processing engines they both work however if you use the mobile version, the credit card payment system is only available via 3G, and not over the internet (and don't even get me started on that)
