Grrrr Yell

Have had the Xtra broadband falling off since Friday of last week in Franklin area.
Have tried switching it on/off. Have unplugged all the phones and plugged them back in again. Have done a factory reset on the modem, as instructed by the Xtra help people. Nothing really seems to work.

It seems to just lose connection every few minutes.

Probably need a newer modem... Or dodgy internal wiring.

If you pm me your home line I can run a line test.

They look like this:

It basically does a much better job of separating your DSl and phone than those plug in filters do.

No. We just have a filter on each phone jack.
Just have the one phone line coming into the house and it's split into 4 jacks around the house, each with it's own line filter.

Broadband has been mostly fine for years with not too many problems.

Well that was odd... your line just dropped when doing a 1 min test...

You're on a ASAM so ADSL1 thus performance won't be brilliant.. And it looks like your cabinet PUK/BD isn't being upgraded under RBI. :(  So the speed you have is the best you're going to get.

Well, the speed hasn't always been brilliant, but it's usually fairly stable. At the moment though it seems to be dropping every 2 or 3 minutes.
We couldn't get broadband here at all (being rural) until about 2009.

Any reason why it would start dropping as of last week?

Anything I can do?

Ohh.. this doesn't look good.

I would log a fault with the broadband helpdesk, or try a different modem if you have one spare (or know someone you could borrow one off?)

You don't have a master splitter. Have you added any new phone handset, alarm, Sky box or something else to the lines?

I have removed one post by a user asking for address for checking conditions. The user is not a Telecom person so I have removed it for security.

I already posted my reply that said he needed the broadband helpdesk to send out chorus to check the line.

Didn't hear anything back so .....

Oops, sorry, I didn't see your reply.
No, I haven't added anything new at all.
The only recent change at all has been to the Telecom account.
A guy rang from there and we upgraded it from 40G to 50G and changed the free toll call thing to nationwide instead of just Auckland wide. I don't think that would have had any effect?

I tried switching the modem from the Thompson to an old D-link DSL-302G that my brother used to use.
That seemed to help for a couple of days, but it's back to falling off again now :(

Going to try ringing the helpdesk again.
