I rang Telecom from my mobile an hour ago to switch/transfer my wife's current Telecom XT connection/number across to a new blank micro SIM from a normal size SIM. I was asked to confirm my wife's mobile number that I had entered during the IVR process which asked me to enter the number I wish to enquire about. The SIM card is under my wife's name.

My wife was standing close by so that she could provide answers to the security questions etc. I was told by the CSR to wait about 10 minutes and the SIM transfer will go through and that was the end of it. I was only ever asked for the blank micro SIM's number and to confirm the mobile number that needed the services transferred. At no point I even told that it's for my wife.

Both me and wife are prepaid Telecom XT customers.

What gives?

Do whatever you want to do man.

As far as I'm aware they don't keep a name with your number for prepaid. There is nothing to prove I have the rights to my number except that I have the assigned sim for it.

I sure you could walk into a store and say you lost your sim, give them a complete random no. and they would give you a new sim without too many questions asked, so long as you pay for it.
