hi y'all ...
i have 3 more months left on to my vodafone contract and i have been using the number for 7 years now...
but 3 days ago i went over to the telecom store by chance and signed up to the 29$ Smart Open Plan and got myself the S4 (which i have been wanting ever since its been talked of). is there any way in 3 months time (after my contract with vodafone is done) i can change the number to telecom....
i did call up a telecom but she said it cant be done that easily...
would like to know if anyone has had any experience is this.. and possible some insights...
thank u...

Could you please expand on this. If your contract is not up on Vodafone yet you can't just post the number without any penalties - you will have to pay an early termination fee surely?

Did the Telecom person warn you about this?

I dont know why she said it'd be difficult, its just a number port if I'm not mistaken, they do it all the time. Since you're on an open plan too you could just throw that sim out when you end with vodafone and start a new telecom account when you port your number over.

You can port your number at any time, however if you're under a term contact with the losing provider you'll instantly be stung with any ETC's that apply.

Well I bought the S4 by paying it off over the 12 months from telecom and hence I wud have needed to use the 027 number I signed up to make the plan payments as well as the deffered payments for the phone...
I got to know once the payment starts... I will need to use the new 027 number for the 12 months to pay off the phone + the 29$ for the plan... and that my 021 which everyone knows me by will become a burden..
Then I thought why do I have to hold on to my 021 number for 3 months pay 40$ + 29$ for 027 ... I rather pay off the termination costs and switch over to telecom which has better infact full reception compared to the 2g vodafone coverage at home...

Vodafone termination costs will come up to 175$..
If I had to wait for my contract to get over... I would be spending 207$ with Vodafone and telecom for the 3 months...
and maybe that I could end up having to pay for 2 numbers...
a bit tricky lol
BUT all sorted..
