on telecom xtra's "explorer" broadband plan they brought back,for $49.95 u get max down,128up,but only 5gb.

only orcon for $49.95,you get max down,128up,but u get 15gb which is 10gb more than telecom xtra give you for the same price.

xtra really needs to increase their 'explorer' plan to 20gb a month to compete with orcon otherwise customers will just cancel their xtra broadband and change to orcon.

xtra 'adventure' plan which comes with 10gb for $59.95 a months,needs to have a 30gb cap.

come on xtra,now is your time to increase data caps.i would gladly change from go large to 'explorer',if it has at least a 20gb cap,and how about giving us maximum upload speed instead of the slow 128k upload speed.

and instead of slowing down users to dialup speed once they reach their data cap,how about giving them the option to topup another 10gb for $10 and so on.users should have an option to stay on dialup speed once they reach their data cap,or to topup another 10gb.

i also just read on the nzdating forums,that someone said telecom are automatically changing them from the go large plan to the old plan they were on. so are telecom forcing people to change back now? most people's older plan was $59.95 and go large is $49.95,so will they be paying $10 more now?

GB folks, not gb.

GB = Gigabyte
gb = gigabit

It's hard for newbiews to understand the difference, we should be using the correct naming convention around here by now, right?

If you want FS upload then get one of the plans that has FS upload. The pro plans have it.

FYI I was told by a very reputable source that Telecom aren't forcing people off Go Large. Current users will be able to stay on it if they wish.

Some simple fact checking goes a long way and I wouldn't consider nzdating a great source of reliable information on this subject.

Why don't you do that then?

LOL to this. We have got choice now and people are complaining? This has got to be better than before (when there was little to choose between ISPs) doesn't it?

Yeah, good point Tstone!

Nobody is saying that Telecom customers have to stay with Xtra.  There are plenty of other offerings out there now and over the last few months we have seen increasing differentiation between ISPs.  This is a trend that is sure to accelerate once unbundling is implemented and other operators can commence installing their own equipment in exchanges or roadside cabinets.

Exciting times are ahead for the NZ internet scene...

Pull your heads out of the sand people and look around, you'll be surprised Smile

i also just read on the nzdating forums,that someone said telecom are automatically changing them from the go large plan to the old plan they were on.

The xtra communique clearly states -"If you're happy to stay on Go Large with the amended traffic management policy, you don't need to do a thing ...."

So check out the ammended traffic management policy to see if that suits you.
