Hi All

Can someone tell me where Telecom get there information for Fibre Availability from?  The Chorus maps show that fibre available, other ISPs are happy to connect me to the Chorus Fibre; but Telecom are telling me its not available.

Ideas please

Thanks
David

The Chorus maps are not a 100% definite source of availably of service. Just because infrastructure is in place doesn't mean it's actually ready to be used. There can sometimes be a delay of several months before this occurs.

There are some areas we can't service just yet - if you DM me your address I can check this out for you? Cheers

If you flick me an email pl at telecom.co.nz with your home address and home phone number I can push it onto the team.

Normally if you have Chorus fibre and have an underground duct, or now can have the replaced overhead cable with Fibre & Copper then you can get Telecom UFB.

If it is a street with an overhead wire for your phone line, Telecom are not yet able to remove it to replace it with a UFB cable as they need to keep both a phone line and a UFB cable.  They are testing a combined cable solution which should be available soon:

Have noticed the Telecom availability tool still seems to be ruling out multi-unit and some above-ground installs. I don't think they actually want the hard ones.

I've noticed the same thing; my parents own an apartment. Chorus says fibre is ready to go but Telecom says "coming later, no date available".

Hybrid cable is already available as are overhead installs.

The availability tool we have draws from what Chorus tell us is available. It doesn't whip into google maps to figure out if we should put it in the to hard basket :P

The information is direct from Chorus' prequal tool. We do not alter the result unless we do not have backhaul to that location yet.
