Hey, on advice from others here I set up unblock us on telecom. Brilliant. Works perfectly. I owe you guys.

I've been trying to set up it up at my bro in laws place and having issues. Would be great if someone has any pointers for me.

I have changed the DNS settings on his ps3 rather than directly on the router (i cant change his router settings for various reasons). Anyway, the unblock service all works fine and he can access Netflix through ps3 so clearly no transparent proxy issues here, but it is crazy slow - as in slow enough to have to buffer on the lowest quality picture. The weird thing is, the speed coming through to the ps3 is pretty fast? He has telecom fibre (30mb capped). I have a slower connection my house and stream 'full' netflix hd no problem.

Do you think this could be the result of the DNS settings being set up on the ps3 rather than the router? If so is there a fix that doesn't involve having to change the router settings?

I have had a similar problem with ps3 running unblock us. Reading up on it suggests it is fairly common. Something to do with the way netflix gets routed via psn instead of direct like with other devices.

Netflix works perfect for me on browser, Apple TV, ipad, but is pretty sucky on ps3.

Interesting. Have you changed your DNS settings on your router or each other device?

I tried using his pc but it seemed like the problem was still there. I might retry that though.

I could not seem to get it working either. I bought a game that had DLC content only for US customers so I used my US account and then used unblockus but it still would not allow me to access it. It could be something else though.

I found similar with my roku and wdtv live - netflix would constantly drop out and buffer despite pc being ok.

What IPs are you using for DNS with unblockus - their site has about 6.

These are what I am using. I didn't realise they had more options... Are you using different addresses on your devices (or to the ones below?)

Primary DNS 111.118.175.56
Secondary DNS 118.127.33.48

Weirdly I just tested out my connection at home and my laptop netflix vid quality is terrible. The ps3's is brilliant though. I just can't figure out why the heck that would be. My laptop kills the ps3 on specs so it can't be that.

Friends have had issues with speed when using unblock us. Switched to overplay with smart dns service and issues were solved almost straight away.

Is anyone getting Dolby 5.1? Have been using Netflix on PS3 for a couple of weeks. Initially we had 5.1 but can't get it now. The option is there but when selected there is no sound at all. Can only get sound if select Stereo. Can't figure it out.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Yep we are and works fine. Netflix uses Dolby Digital Plus to deliver 5.1 so the device you are streaming on and home theatre setup etc has to be compatible with that.

Only had a quick read of your question but thought I'd say that I always have performance issues running through my PS3. All other devices on same WAN are fine. PS3 with unblock-us has always been a bit more painful for me.

Thanks Shock - is that via PS3?

I thought I had checked and sorted the PS3 sound output settings - but obviously not because I had another go at it and now have 5.1 back again.

Is the PS3 connected via Ethernet or WiFi? Connect via Ethernet if you can. Using unblock-us in that way with Snap and having no issues.

It's wired and all issues now sorted - working well. Have HD + 5.1 on Netflix and Amazon Instant Video. I have moved the Unblock-US DNS settings to the the router so Netflix works simply on iPad too.

The only 'issue' is that we are now chewing through data. Changed xtra plan from 30GB to 80GB - hope that's enough. If not, may just ration the streaming activity - have to draw a line somewhere. We have cancelled Fatso and Soho to compensate for the added cost of Unblock + Netflix + data - but mainly because there's not enough content we want on Soho (and what's on there plus a whole lot more is availabe on Netflix and Amazon anyway). And never liked the Fatso model.
