Hey all,

As it'll likely be moot by the time I receive any response to an email, can someone confirm that http://www.ultramobile.co.nz is really associated with Telecom? Because if it is, seems I probably just won a phone :-)

Cheers

For those wondering, no I'm not a spambot.

Came across it from a NZ Herald advert and was rather surprised to be told I won a phone when following the link. And it's not the 'you won a lunchbox if you subscribe to our service for 10 years or listen to a week long presentation' sort of thing. WHOIS suggests it's legit (Touch/Cast which concurs with T&C which I did read) and I would expect the price+checking from NZ Herald would make a scam difficult. And I checked the website a few more times as did a flatmate, doesn't seem that everyone is a winner.

While Ultra Mobile are the new Telecom plans and the competition is clearly presented as a Telecom one, I'm not seeing any links or information on the Telecom domains to the competition. (Hint to Telecom, if running a competition under a different domain, link to it or mention it on your main domain somewhere. Although perhaps I just caught them too early.) In fact, no discussion I can find anywhere. (Perhaps I'm intended to rectify that by being one of the early winners :-P) I didn't see any ad on NZ Herald before so guess it may have just started even though the T&C suggests it should have started yesterday.

Only information I gave out were a mobile number and an email address. Seems unlikely it's a premium SMS scam and of course if I get a phone call asking me for my credit card details so they can send me the prize you can guess what I'll tell them....

If it was a "YOU JUST WON _____" for no effort on your part, other than visiting a webpage, I'd be very skeptical.

It seems Telecom Ultra Mobile is the new branding for Telecom XT. Well done, I'd say you just scored a free phone and smartwatch combo...

Did it say which smartphone you won?

From what you say it seems you won an instant prize which could be one of:

4 x Sony Xperia M
1 x Sony Xperia Z
5 x Nokia 625
1 x Nokia 1020
5 x Samsung S4 Mini

The prize draw at the close of the competition is for:

3 x Samsung Galaxy Note 3 + Gear

Not a bad set of prizes!

Just to let people know, I really did win (and obviously I did fill out my details correctly, or at least my mobile). Got a phone call asking for my address.

Thanks Telecom!!!
