This may be a moot question.
I note that telecom are launching 4G very soon.
Seeing that Skinny is sort of based on Telecom network is there any likelihood that Skinny customers will be able to have 4 G connects at some stage??

Maybe, but I don't see Telecom launching it on the Skinny network at launch, only due to the fact it's just low paying prepaid customers. You could always port your number over to Telecom and take up their $19 pack?

Skinny is not separate from Telecom, it's a brand within Telecom.

Don't confuse it with a virtual network operator, because it's not. It's just marketing.

It operates seperately,   While Telecom NZ Ltd. own Skinny, Skinny has its own offices, staff (including their call centre) and systems, and they get to choose all their own prices, products, services and the like.

Its Just like any virtual network operator, however they are owned by Telecom

I guess its kindof like Qantas and Jetstar

Ive been hoping they will, maybe not immediately as it launches but maybe a few months after. That would be really great.

If telecom $19 customers can have it why cant Skinny $16 customers

It's wrong to think of it as an MVNO - do you think Skinny could buy service off Vodafone?

It's owned 100% by and operated 100% by Telecom. Sure, it has a different marketing model, but it is not a separate entity. If it were, it would have to join the TCF and TDR service under its own scheme, buy its own number ranges etc. It's a marketing difference, not a a different company/operator.

As expected reply from Skinny via a support querry of mine a day or so ago.
No they will not have support for 4 G initially but may do later on

I'd say skinny will get 4g support about the same time as 2degrees launches theirs

Considering LTE only offers data services and everything else requires fallback I'd be very surprised if they had any short (or medium) term plans for it. LTE is a premium offering.

I was expecting this Steve- as Skinny is not of course targeted at "that end"of the market shall we say
