Perhaps someone could explain why I can't use a TelstraClear landline number (here in Christchurch) using number portability on a Telecom phone line, in a suburb where there is not TelstraClear access (both are in the same toll free calling area).  In other words, I move suburbs, and want to switch companies, but the number can't be moved.  Thanks heaps.

Is the Telecom exchange you're moving to an old model NEAX that doesn't support portability? Who has actually told you that you can't move your TCL number to Telecom? Telecom or TCL?

I have no idea obout the type of exchange, but the prefix is 332-xxxx.  I have already moved to the new suburb and have been call forwarding from my old address.  It was a Telecom worker who said that, I didn't really understand what they were saying as I was so surprised by it.
