I was trying to setup unblock-us for a friend at the weekend, they have a VDSL connection with the Telecom-supplied TG589 but I could not for the life of me figure out how you can edit the DNS server addresses. Can somebody enlighten me?

Ta!

Don't worry. Found an old locked threat which says it can't be done via GUI and must be done via CLI. I'll stick to just entering the DNS addresses into each device.

Why would Telecom want to make it so difficult to change to a DNS server of your choice?

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the settings being tough to change either, but believe me when I say most people changing their DNS servers are doing it for bad reasons and will get worse performance, which the helpdesk then has to sort out.

It's generally speaking, a good thing (for most users) to make changing such an important setting difficult. As you have found out, if you REALLY want to change them, it can be done. Again, generally those people who press on to find out how to do it know the risk they are taking and the performance hit they are giving themselves.

Cheers - N
