so i'm picking last week Skinny had a system update and they are only able to have one addon per category at a time.
i use skinny as my main internet access (no adsl available),i purchase on average 3 data 600 addons per week.
with the new changes i can only purchase one at a time and use it until it has run out, then purchase another, but with the skinny pro-rata  rates, i will get less and less data and charge ,
it will get to the point where i will have to log on to skinny the day before my plan ends and only get < 100mb.
how many time will i be logging into my skinny account to delete and re-add addons ?
ARRRRGH!

what are you doing Skinny? will you fix this?

According to Skinny:

You can still renew your add-ons multiple times - you first need to deactivate the active add-on you wish to renew before trying to add it on again.

E.g. if you have already activated Data200 this week and want to add it on again you first need to deactivate Data200, you will then be able to reactivate it.

so my week finishes up after 5pm today and i have run out of internet twice so far today, each time i need to log back in, cancel my old addon and re apply for a new one, then re start my skinny dongle so the data will work again, i always use the 600mb plan, this time it gave me 26mb, it was cheap, better lay off the pinterest or any site with images.
i have been thinking that all i need to do is get more simcards, but then i need more email addresses.

Hi

I am assuming that you are using the Love Bytes Combo.

If you can estimate your data requirement at the start of the week, then when your Combo renews you could cancel the Add-on then re-apply it (two or three times if required).  The quota from any Add-on you cancel will remain on the account for the week (you have purchased it and so don't lose it, canceling the Add-on is really more to do with what automatically renews at the end of the 7 days).  As it is the start of the cycle the pro-rated amount will be almost 600MB if buying Data600.

If you are near the end of the week and really want another decent chunk of data you can cancel the Combo and then set it up again.  Again any remaining quota remains until its normal expiry date.  The issue here is that you will be charged an additional $4 for 200MB rather than the $8 for 600MB that you are after, but at least you will be browsing again.

We understand this issue and are always looking at what changes to make in future.  I'd be interested to know views on pro-rating.  Would you prefer to be charged $8 for 600MB even if it expired after 2 days as you were near the end of the week?

Cheers

Paul.

This is the reason I changed from Skinny. Sure the idea of pro-rata is nice, in that you pay for what you get accurately. But in another respect I agree completely with tristanp; as you get closer and closer to the end of your 7-day cycle the amount of usable data becomes impractically and asymptotically smaller (even though you are being charged for it properly).

When I was with Skinny, running out of data within the last few hours of my 7-day cycle, typically had me in fits of rage. If only they would let you restart the 7-day cycle anew with a fresh 600MB pack for $8 for the next 7 days. That would be the best solution IMO.

It annoyed me enough that I changed providers at the time.

so I can purchase multiple 600mb packs at the start of the week, but I need to cancel each one, then reactivate, quite the pain in the ass.
irony was at the start of my week no data packs were loaded so had no data

im not happy about it but it is workable, might be time to look at options for long range wifi link back to civilisation , counting my telecom 3g and skinny data across 3 accounts i'm in for about $200/ month for less than 15gb.

Agreed, the prorating is just silly on amounts that small for a price that low.

Just add the full amount of megs for the full price no matter when during the cycle it is added. If the main combo doesnt renew for whatever reason then nuke the data at that point in time, if it renews then let the added data expire 7 days from when bought.
