Hi, I am visiting NZ for 3 months. I would like to know if my phone works well with the Skinny Sim (on the XT network)? I am interested in sending SMS (to local mobiles only). No roaming, no international, just the cheapest local SMS. Sending/recieving messages are more important for me than voice calls, or data. So, i am interested in the $8/month unlimited text. I have a Nokia C2 phone, which is 3G.

I would like to visit semi-remote areas of NZ, however i only need coverage near towns. I have researched some options online, and it seems VODAPHONE (Prepay Smart), or 2DEGREES (Prepay Plus, with the $10 textpack) are 2 other options.

Please let me know if skinny will be suitable for my purposes. Thanks!

p.s. I bought the phone in Australia, it's now operting on Telestra network

If it is unlocked and works in rural areas of Australia on Telstra's NextG network, then it should work on Skinny.

Hi

You can check your 'phones compatibility with our network here http://skinny.co.nz/2850_EN.htm

I
f compatible then from what you say the $8 Unlimited Texts Combo sounds perfect for your needs.

You can also check coverage for the areas you are visiting here http://skinny.co.nz/2485_EN.htm

If you have an NZ address for posting we currently have SIMS for only $2 in our online store https://skinny.co.nz/2860_EN.htm

New Zealand is a beautiful country - I hope you enjoy your stay.

Cheers

Paul

Thank you Paul the IMEI number check out. May i also purchase a SIM in store in Christchurch, is there a different price for instore purchase? In addition to the unlimited text, which is pefect for me. What would you suggest if I need to make a call or two every week on top of that. The standard call rates are a little high, but i don't need for example 100minutes either, just a couple outgoing calls every now and then.

If you take the  $16 prepay pack you will also be able to text and call back to Ozz..

For just the odd call if you are on the $8 plan then you would pay $0.39c per minute to NZ phones.  This is the lowest prepaid standard rate in the country.  If on a Combo (e.g. the $8 unlimited text) we also have a special rate of $0.06c per minute to Australian Landlines and $0.25c per minute to Australian mobiles.

You can buy SIMS in stores for $4.  You can find a store here https://www.skinny.co.nz/2480_EN.htm

Cheers

Paul

Thanks Paul, actually i don't need to call AUS, i meant to say the odd call to NZ mobiles. I will def get the $8 unlimited text, and on top of that i will need to make a call or two/week.

Well i don't actually have any use for data, i just send texts, and the very occasional call. Other than that i have no uses. Otherwise ya the $16 bundle would be worthwhile for me.
