So, until Dec 24 Skinny are offering free phones when you buy a certain amount of credit...for example, $150 gets you a LG OPTIMUS L3 II phone with $150 Skinny credit. The phone's locked to Skinny, but I can live with that.

My question - I already have a Skinny sim. Can I get this deal, use my existing sim and get the credit loaded up on that?

Regards,

 - David.

The credit is pre-loaded onto the SIM that comes in the box and becomes available on activation of that SIM.

Once activated, you can transfer credit to another skinny account, correct?
Anything stopping you transferring the entire amount?

It appears that once you activate it, it starts up a plan. If you could pick prepaid, then yes, you could transfer the entire amount easy enough. But from some of the wording, I'm not sure you can...

Unless something's changed recently, Skinny only offers prepaid. If you move all the credit off then the combo (plan) would usually stop, and I suspect that it would in this case too.

I think skinny has a function where you can gift credit to another skinny number, so as said above you should be able to buy the phone an then transfer the credit to your existing number.

Please let me know if this works as I have $50 in 'Skinny Dollars' I need to use, so think I will buy the $50 phone, transfer the credit to my account then give away the phone

New Skinny sims do not come with any plan preloaded. You have to activate a plan yourself

I havn't bought one of these phones, but I can confirm that you can transfer credit between Skinny numbers and I doubt that there will be any block in place

As it turns out, the limiting factor is the $20 per week credit transfer limit. You can get the phone, you activate the sim just as normal, no need to go on any combo, but it'll take me 8 weeks to transfer the included credit onto the sim it needs to end up on.

Sigh...

Yeap! Oh well, used my skinny dollars to pay for the $50 phone, so I came out on top :)

Bro got a $50 free phone too, fantastic, just $4 more to use on 2D and then port the no. across.

Not sure about the crediting credit thingy but you can just port the no. over and get the first month free of $16 combo plan :D then revert back to the casual prepay if that suits you.
