
Well, I moved to Skinny a few months ago with a $2 sim, all was good for me (got the 1st $16 stretch free and with 1000 skinny to skinny mins per month free too). So I think it is a good time to get a $2 sim for my wife, who is already on skinny, and get the $16 combo, so that she can have the 1000 skinny to skinny mins free two.
Well, that was my wishful thinking...
So, here was what I did:
- bought a $2 sim on skinny.co.nz. Sweet, no problem, got it delivered to office.
- I read the instruction three times. It said she (I) should not active the card, but login to skinny.co.nz to do a SIM swap instead.
- I logged on as her, do a SIM swap online. The portal said put the new SIM card to the phone and wait for 10 mins for a notification SMS to indicate its done.
- After more than 10 mins, no text. However, I can call her (the new SIM card in her phone), and text her, so all seems good.
- Because it is night time, I gave her all the instruction needed for her to call 0800 4 SKINNY this morning. She understood what needs to be done.
- This morning, she called skinny after 25mins on hold. Old weekly addon and combo cancelled by staff. Sweet. New $16 stretch added (not free, as per the T&C because she is not porting a number to Skinny), sweet. Operator said it will take 1 hour for the 1000 skinny to skinny mins bonus to kick in. This was around 2:30 pm today (Dec 10)
- More than an hour later, the bonus did not show up. So she called at around 4:30 pm again.
- The operator seems to confused with all the free $16 stuff vs the 1000 free mins stuff. Anyway, promised to call back by her manager at 17:30.
- No phone call as of now (18:10), and no bonus add on.
