Just checking if anyone is using 2talk on big pipe VDSL.

I've configured up a pap2 for a client - works great on fibre but won't work on VDSL.

Changed out the router still no joy - just checking if anyone else has it working so I can work out if it's my end or if I'm fighting a losing battle?

I don't personally use it, but I know our CTO does, and it seems to be working ok for him.

It's beyond my expertise (I just use mobile for voice, don't have a need for VOIP) but if you put a support request in on our site we can take a look.

I use it on Bigpipe with no issues at all.

Im with 2talk as well with bigpipe.
Having issues not registering using linksys 2102.
Tried several ways and resolved by using port 50600 instead of 5060.
So now my proxy is sip.2talk.co.nz:50600

That resolve my issue.

Is your problem that the PAP2 won't register with sip.2talk.co.nz?

I had that problem and Bigpipe support moved me to a public IP address. They said that some customers were having problems due to their IP address allocation system.

I also have a problem with bad echos heard by people I talk to. This occurs whether I call them or they call me. I'm trying to sort this out with 2talk support at the moment.

Is Bigpipe using CGN for ip management?

I assume CGN = Carrier Grade NAT then it would appear so.  They didn't specifically say but as they said the were moving me to a "Public" IP address I can't see what else it would be.

The IP address that I had before the move was "122.56.60.xx" and now it is "203.96.123.xx".

I always thought CG NAT used private IP addresses so I'm a bit confused by neither of these two addresses being private.

Yes we are using CG-NAT.

If you need a public IP address we can provide you with one. Just submit a request through our support page.

There is no charge for that at this point. (and not likely to be one unless we get too many people asking for them)

CG NAT is immediately going to cause VoIP.

So just confirming that Big Pipe moved me to a public IP and now voip works fine.

I've got to say that contacting the help desk via email rather than spending an hour on the phone was a far better experience so well done Big Pipe.

Good stuff, and great to hear you had a good experience.

We really believe this is a superior support method, and we've got lots of features planned to make this sort of thing even better, so watch this space!

Yes, the email support appears to work well.  The response time for email support is pretty good too. :)
