There hadn't been an official press release put out about it but I thought fellow Geekzoners in Christchurch would want to know.

Late last month Telecom launched our commercial UFB offering with Enable in Christchurch.

The Enable site has been updated to reflect we offer UFB: http://www.enable.net.nz/how/residential.html

There are a few outstanding wrinkles that are being worked on with the Telecom Address Checker but never fear if service is available with Enable and you still have copper in the ground we can offer you service.
