Well, if one was to click here they would find out about Telecom's Roaming pricing by zones, due to go to market July 5th.

telecom.co.nz/globalroaming:

Telecom will be the first to take the hassle out of roaming. Introducing zone-based pricing. Starting July 5th, roam with your WorldMode phone or Telecom Mobile and pay just one price for any country or group of countries in a particular ‘zone’, regardless of what time of day you call or text, or what network you’re on.

What a rip off! $5/min for international calls if calling from Australia. $8/min if calling from the U.S.

At least with Vodafone you get to call from Australia with the same rates you have in New Zealand. And calls from the U.S. are "only" $5.95...

Yes when I first saw this I did also think it was a little over priced, probably understating it there.

Can we still use our O2 sims when this thing launches? I quite like the UK network roaming provider.

My comment is "simpler" pricing almost always means "More Expensive" like the full-minute rounding for calls fiasco was called "simpler" back in the day..

If you have one yes.

telecom.co.nz/globalroaming: Please note that if you continue to use your 02 SIM card after 5 July, you will continue to be billed under the old pricing structure.

Is there roaming data pricing, or is data unavailable?

Comments are my own, don't blame my employer...

Not not yet, as Telecom only offer Data Roaming to Australia.

But you can use the O2 SIM to dataroam on GSM.
The prices vary between $14/MB and $19/MB which is cheaper than Vodafones usual price of $30/MB

Good to see the inbound roaming charges have dropped in most places though but shame about the SMS rate going skyhigh though!

As for the setting to use the O2, watch this space as nobody knows..
