Xtras Email Alerts Service will no longer be available from 20th July, does anyone know a way I can setup text message alerts to my 027 cell phone from my @xtra.co.nz mail address when this service is discontinued? Any other suggestion would be much appreciated, even if it means I have to get another email address.
Thanks

Oh your'e kidding! they are cancelling it! of course there is no reason provided just like all the other cancellations (Djuice, xtraIM, Wordup, etc) and the part I really despise if they NEVER give longer than the "30 days notice of closure".. GRRRR.

I migrated my data + email to Vodafone last month as a trial and now i'm certainly not going back as I rely on the alerts for urgent email notifs...

Telecom's helpline support for data is shocking (until you get past the plebs at 120 aka "Service Continuity"), Not including WAP in data bundles, and I refuse to pay $2.81 a month for Xtra email with restrictive pop3 access when the competition provides it free along with unrestricted POP3 support.

as for Telecom, You might need to subscribe to eTXT, at some exorbidant rate probably..

Equally strangely, their "Email on Your Telecom Mobile" page http://xtra.co.nz/mobile/0,,10394,00.html says

Please note: This service will end from 20/7/07.

Watch this space! Xtra's new WAP email service is arriving soon.

Anyone know what's happening?

Actually, Telecom gave us over 7 years notice for 025 and we were very appreciative of the notice.

Just the actual value added services that telecom offer never get canned with more than that minimum 30 days notice.

I moaned about Telecoms horrible WAP mail portal from the days of the Gtran 4020 months ago, Looks like something good might be on the way as a result!!!!!

From what I understand it is something todo with planned network upgrades being unable to support the service.

Xtra offer secure remote access, and no longer charge for this.
