these are pingtest results taken a few hours apart and i do them whenever i get kinda bothered, and 55ms isn't that bad although when ur gaming you can really notice it, eg. last hitting on dota 2 is a pain on 55ms, but yeah the connection is kinda up and down and do take note that, no programs are running when i run these. PS. Back when i was with slingshot, I used to have the same ping 15-20ms ish and when i ping valve's servers in sydney i'd usually get like 15+3ms ping right but now its always 50ms-60ms just curious.
xolu: I've also been experiencing higher than usual latency to the games I have been playing recently.
When I first got connected to bigpipe I was pinging 55~ms to Sydney from Christchurch. Couple days later it went up to around 70, and remained there for a few weeks.
Recently however my latency jumps anywhere between 70 and 100. My latency is very inconsistent as well, jumping between 70 and 90 in the space of 5-10 minutes on ethernet. Although this latency isn't a huge deal, its the inconsistency that is an issue.
Is there some sort of data I can collect to help identify what the cause of this inconsistent latency is?

jurax04: I found a bit of a workaround for this although the valve ping is still inconsistent but it is considerably less eg. 25-45ms, but the overall line latency is consistently @ 18ms. So what i did was use some program that determined the best DNS server to use cant remember what it was, and it determined that ihug's DNS was the best and i just paired that up with the second best which was 8.8.4.4 and thats it.
Sideface: Pings from Wellington to Sydney have always been slow and variable on my Vodafone / Telstra Clear 50/2 cable connection - typically 55-65ms, but often up to 90ms - which is why I try to avoid using Sydney servers.
