It's probably stolen. So if you message me the IMEI of the phone I can look it up. Then you can report it to the police but I doubt you would get your money back.

Just had a look at the IMEI, Unfortunately no amount of resetting / changing settings on the phone is going to get it to work, I'd reporting this to the police

Avoid buying expensive phones without a receipt and also put your own SIM card before completing the purchase to make sure it works by calling out of it.

Do whatever you want to do man.

This is the problem.

Can also be known as receiving stolen goods.

Some things are also too good to be true. If you feel it is then do your checks.

Just a question plambrechtsen

If I report a phone Stolen and its put on the "blacklist", I presume it can be removed if it is ever found?

And I presume from what jattboyracer is saying (that no carrier worked properly) that the blacklist is shared between Carriers now?

Yes it can be unblocked if found if you can provide proof of ownership. And I believe the EIR is now shared.

Proof of ownership and must be unblocked by the carrier that originally blocked it.
Blacklist sharing was launched in Dec

EIR blacklist has been shared between Vodafone and Telecom for ages. Since Dec 2013 they have automated and formalized this sharing process, and included 2degrees under a TCF agreement encompassing the 3 main networks.
