Hey everyone,

Our VDSL connection to BigPipe started working Wednesday 12th March. Since then It has been doing all sorts of crazy things, in terms of speed. We are currently splitting it between 6 people. I understand it usually takes 5 to 10 days for the connection to optimise, so at this stage I am not concerned too much about the speed. However how th speed is divided is whats the issue. some people are receiving 17mbs while others less than 1mbs. I dont think speedtest is broken and we are all getting a good signal so it must be that we have internet hogs wallowing in data already.

Is their a way I can program the QoS in the web ui of my modem (HG630b) to evenly distribute the internet? if so what rules/settings will I need to enter to do so?

pretty sure you can't do that with that modem.

You will need something like Gargoyle or Tomato on a separate router I believe.

alternatively, tell your flatmates to grow up and stop being data hogging A-holes, and keep their torrenting for when everyone else is asleep or out of the house.

Gargoyle is what you want. Flash that on to a compatible TP-Link model, bridge your current VDSL to the new Gargoyle router, profit.

Gargoyle is really excellent for this exact situation and is quite easy to use too.

You can set up user profiles with speed and quota management. Have the speed drop when the quota is reached etc.
