Today we have announced that from 7th May we will be removing pro-rating of Add-Ons.  Pro Rating was introduced originally so that we could align the renewal dates of the Combo and Add-Ons without charging unfairly for quota that would not last a full week or month.  However customer feedback has said that people would prefer to pay the full amount and get the full quota, even if that meant having different renewal dates for the Combo and Add-Ons.

From the monthly pricing section of the website...

FROM 07 MAY 2014 THIS IS HOW ADD-ONS WILL WORK
Add-Ons are no longer pro-rated. You will be charged the full amount for your Add-On and receive the full included quota at the time of purchase. You can add any of these Monthly Add-Ons to your active Monthly Combo at any stage. The Add-On will auto-renew every 30 days from purchase if your Combo has auto renewed, is still active and you have enough credit to buy the Add-On.

If you choose to Change Combo and move to a different Monthly Combo, your Add-On will remain active and will be set to renew on its planned renewal date.

If you cancelled your Combo, or it failed to renew due to not enough credit, your Add-On will also cancel but you’ll keep any remaining quota from your Add-on until its expiry date.

If you want to purchase the same Monthly Add-On more than once during your Combo’s cycle, you'll need to cancel the existing Add-On first and then purchase a new one using the Skinny Mobile Menu or our website. You’ll keep any quota remaining from the original Add-On until its expiry date. Your Add-On renewal date will change to 30 days from the time you purchase the new Add-On.

This is a very welcome change, Pro-rata was very annoying sometimes Maybe addons and combos should be combined into one catagory, so There isnt any difference between buying a Stretch combo and buying a Data1gb combo for example

Like what Telecom does, All extras are the same?and you can have more than one Extra

Yes, 7 days from date of purchase and (apart from one-off Add-Ons) will then renew as long as you have an active Combo.

I for one am a bit annoyed with this. I liked the pro rata system so if I was running low close to my renewal I could get enough to tide me over. This change will probably mean I will opt to just make do without instead.

Drove me nuts on my last trip to NZ... And probably will when I come over this weekend.
If my travel plans weren't so tight on friday, I would've gone with another company.
At least it'll be sorted for my next trip. Thank you.

If you are only here briefly (and not worried about losing rollover minutes on the $16 Stretch) you can always cancel your Combo and then purchase it again - you retain any remaining quota from the original until it would normally expire but also start afresh with the new Combo.

That's what I do... My problem is going through heaps of data and wanting to get another gig, but it being pro-rated means I don't get it all, so I have to keep buying smaller and smaller amounts... Really annoying on a 10 day trip.

You need to cancel the Combo.  If you do that and then purchase it again then you are back at the start of your term for the Combo so the pro-rating won't have a large impact.

If you are on a phone then you can cancel your combo by calling *888*4*2# or otherwise through My Account on the website.

Thanks. Unfortunately I had the combo and the add-on. I still needed the combo for texts and calls. Once the add-on ran out, I was hoping I could get another, but it didn't work that way.

If you cancel the Combo, all that means is that it won't renew automatically.  You would still retain all the quota for calls and texts until they were meant to expire.

So this month my add-on did not automatically renew. Anyone else experience that?

If you have an active Combo and sufficient credit then your Add-On should have renewed.  If you would like to PM me your number I can investigate for you.
