I'm on Telecom and my wife is on Vodafone prepay.

The Skinny $16 looks very attractive, namely
- roll over minutes
- included calls and txts to Australia
- free Skinny calls

1) With no Skinny shops/CSR, what is the most reliable way to port a number?

2) Are the 3 things going to stay, or are they one month gimmicks that go away?

1. Porting via the website worked flawlessly for me.
2. I believe that they're permanent; the previous special deal (1 GB data) was clearly marketed as such.

IE is DUMB or is it web designers?

I completed everything on the website and .... it shows a blank screen ... so did I purchase the sim or not?

*sigh a call to the bank .... AGAIN

Maybe I'm dumb ... should delete IE and use chrome

Once you get the sim you just dial 456 to activate it and then go to http://skinny.co.nz And click sign up.

Once you're done and in the my account section of the skinny website, Just click Keep My Number down the side and follow the steps.

Make sure you tick the "Yes I want my first $16 Stretch Monthly Combo to be added to my account for free" box down the bottom of the form

It may then take a few days for the port to happen, you'll be able to use your old sim until then

The Rollover Minutes, Aus calling and texting, and Unlimited skinny calling are all permanent at this stage

Anyone has experience of how long it took them to port?

My experience was it took one business day if they are not busy. However, when they are busy, three business days or a bit more.

I would suggest you port your number approximately five business days before your current plan expires, just in case.

can i ask - is the 3G coverage and frequencies of every tower the same as Telecom (ie if telecom has decent coverage for my phone i should expect the same for skinny minus 4G?)

Yup... I use them every time I visit from Oz. Excellent coverage. One place I stayed had borderline VF/2d on the maps (and proven by a mate) so I was happy.
