Hi, Is anyone from telecom able to check if an IMEI is stolen for me?

Ive checked it on the TCF website and it comes up as not stolen, but the phone still recieves no service on telecom or skinny sims. The phone is either broken or stolen

But id like to see if it is on Telecoms block list

Email me "pl at telecom.co.nz" and I can look it up.. but tomorrow as I don't have my computer with me.

Otherwise online chat folks should be able to assist.

Have you tried turning on airplane mode on and off?  Or tried to turn the phone off and on again?

Do you have a 2d of VF sim?  Give it a try to isolate whether it is a SIM or handset issue.  =-)

Have you checked that 3g is turned on - a lot of people turn it off thinking that it will stop using data (which it won't) but you wont get any coverage on telecom with 3g off, we see 2 or 3 phones a week at work with this issue.

Is it a handset that has worked on Telecom before? Or perhaps a VF one that doesn't support the right bands?

The lists are now shared. If the phone doesn't work on Telecom or Skinny but works in other providers (you didn't say if that's the case) then there's a good chance it just doesn't support 850MHz WCDMA or 3G is disabled.

If the phone worked on Telecom before, it is an Android device and a new ROM was flashed then there's a chance the new ROM doesn't support 850 MHz WCDMA.

So what's the story behind this handset?

Its a Telecom Galaxy Y, It was given to my friend after she swapped some clothes and things for it. It has been factory resetted and 3g is enabled, Im guessing its either broken or blacklisted. But maybe it was blacklisted before the lists were shared and its not on the TCF site

Did it ever work for her? What about ROM flashing? Some friend of your friend who came around and said "hey this is cool, it can make it better?"

Sure it could be blacklisted since the provenance is not clear, but there are other things...

plambrechtsen confirmed to me that it was blocked on their network, For over a year too

Oddly it didnt show up as blocked on vodafone when Andib checked for me, So this must've been before the blocked ones were shared. Wouldnt it be good if older ones were shared too?
