Hi there,

I'm having issues with my rather new (~2 week old) HG630b router that I recently acquired from Telecom as a part of my plan with them.

The router is connected to the internet via. ADSL2+ in Auckland Central. From what I can tell the problem isn't related to the connection or wiring between (DSL light is solid and Internet light is on/flickering to show active/activity).

Occasionally the router will disconnect all the LAN connections from the internet (I usually first notice it when Skype cuts off in the middle of a call and tries to reconnect, and meanwhile I wouldn't be able to load any webpages - and the LAN light is still lit for the corresponding LAN port connected) and would only reconnect if I used the internet via. WiFi (which is unaffected by this issue) on my wireless devices (i.e. If I clicked a link on a browser on my phone), with this quickfix immediately solving the problem (skype will reconnect immediately, and the webpage would also load).

There is only one LAN port used to connect to the computer, the rest of the devices connected wirelessly (tallying between 4-6 phones, tablets and a tv box) makes up the rest of the devices with connectivity to the router. I have tried switching the plugged in LAN port to another one and the issue persists.

The problem is intermittent and does not always fix itself when the modem is restarted, but sometimes the modem is fine for a period of a day.

Product Name HG630b   Product Serial Number Omitted Hardware version AM1HG630M01VER.A Software version V100R001C55B017
Please advise for any possible solutions or if you have any need for additional information.

Cheers!

Got a filter? Preferably a master.

Only other weird issue I've heard of recently with similar internet dropping, was someone with the net dropping every time they try to secure log on to ANZ.

There's a filter connected but due to the living situation (we're renting the apartment for now) we can't install a master splitter.

The DSL connection doesn't drop out from the router I should emphasize, only the wired LAN connection drops out and will only resume after loading a webpage on a wireless device.

I could watch a live stream on my iPad and the stream will play without a hitch while this problem occurs on my ethernet-connected PC.

I would try another router but it's currently deep inside our storage unit since we recently moved house. :[

Has the wired computer also got a wireless connection that is conflicting?

There's no wireless card in the computer, no.
