Hi all,
Well I've got to move out for earthquake repairs, OK so thought I'd pre-emptively ring up Telecom to get an idea of the process.
And well we can transfer the number easily enough it would seem, but when it comes to the broadband that is a different matter.
I didn't want to switch the broadband, more just keep it at the current location. (Place I am moving into already has broadband, all be it ADSL).
But I got told the broadband in essence got disconnected, and they can re-connect it again, BUT I have to sign up with them for another 12 months to make that happen. I've got no qualms with sticking with Telecom (Been with them for years), but for them to force me to sign up for another 12 months because of something out of my control just because I'm out of the house for 8 weeks and won't be using it is a bit on the nose.
I'm assuming they are thinking along the lines of "disconnect it because they are not there and obviously do not want to pay for something they cannot use", then we have to reconnect them, Woot, lets call that a new connection even though they have been with us for years.
Has anyone else struck this?
Cheers
Tel
