Intermittently today on my Xtra VDSL connection I've had pages that (in Firefox and IE) are giving page not found error. It's not a 404 - the server simply can't be found. Earlier it was stuff.co.nz (since restored), then trademe.co.nz (also since restored) and right now I can't get to google.co.nz.

Anyone else getting this, or is this an isolated thing?

DNS records are typically cached at multiple levels ie: Your computer (Mac/Windows) has a dns cache, your modem/router probably has a dns cache/proxy. your ISP's dns servers... so could be a stale record anywhere in that chain.

However I would put money on the modem/router being the issue especially if it's a Thomson/Technicolor.

All the domains you mention have very low TTL's (like a lot of big sites with load balancing/redundancy behind the scenes).
