Hello,

Basically my cousin has broken her iphone on Telecom and looking for a temporary phone and I have an old Vodafone Sony Ericsson W955.

I was wondering if anyone knew if this phone would work with a Telecom sim card in it? It has Vodafone branded start up screen.

Specs say:

2G Network

GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900

3G Network

HSDPA 2100 - W595 only

SIM

Mini-SIM

Specs:
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_w595-2469.php

Any help before I drive up to drop this off would be great, in case it's pointless.

Cheers!

It would only get limited (2100) coverage in the main centres.

No, please do not say that. People will go away thinking "she'll be alright".

IT WON'T WORK ON SPARK.

If she tries she will be very unhappy and blame the network when in fact it's the handset.

Jeez, sorry. I saw everybody else doing it on here not long ago and no one really said anything.

In that case, I revise my response: it will not work properly. Better to get a cheapo one and use that if the other one is going to be out of action for a long time.

Sorry, it's not a personal thing. Every time I see someone saying "it will be ok in main centres" I post a clarification. It may, or may not. And the coverage will vary greatly. It will be a poor experience, so better not even mention it.
