Is anybody following this on snapchat and the resultant conversations on Spark's Facebook page?
It's an interesting concept for the marketing gurus but the self-entitled comments being put on Sparks facebook page are hilarious.
I wont be able to get along due to work (oh well, too bad, nevermind) but the borderline hate being posted there by those who werent able to line up, or live in different towns etc is atrocious/hilarious. It certainly makes them all look exceedingly greedy and spiteful.
Its well worth a read if you have time.

I've seen a few like "My child was so disappointed!" "I arrived at the time and there was already a line" etc, don't people realize that free stuff is normally popular and it is always first in first served?

Shhh, don't tell everyone!  I even installed snapchat (well 6snap on WP actually) to get in on the action, and would love it if no-one else knew about this :p

You have to wonder about the wisdom of marketing stunts like this considering that the moaners are likely to be the type of customer who would be expensive to support and generate low ARPU.

In my view it makes much better business sense to target marketing at more mature and professional demographics.

I went into town in the evening here yesterday (the ATM was at 330 i think) and saw the queue if people still lining up to get the ticket or whatever it is, and all I could think was "school kids these days must have quite lax hours" as that who was mostly in the queue with a small smattering of adults.
I still love the angry posts being put on their FB page though and the rather diplomatic responses from their social network team, they are far more patient than I could ever be.

Why should a customer reward depend on their ability to join the circus? This is just a stunt.

I was first in line for the first of the tour (invercargill), a 6 hours in the cold night for a 8.30am start was worth it for a S5 ;) At the end of the day, its something for nothing so if you miss out then no harm done

If you have to run heating in winter, you don’t own enough computers.

Missed out.  They parked up right in the middle of town on a Saturday afternoon, so the 100 spots went like that.  I'd imagine most people had no idea that it was coming, but were quick to jump in line.  I was there a couple of minutes after the location was disclosed, but still missed out by about 20 people.

Edit to add - there was no announcement/post about time or location until they set up in town.  So not much point being a follower on SnapChat to receive the 'clue' - their word, as every random person in the area made the cut.
