Anyone from Spark able to tell us when the iPhone 6 will be available for order and what the pricing/plans etc. (including term payment plans) will be?

The Apple website says available to order from September 26 in New Zealand. Of course, no idea how long shipping times will be from that date!

does anyone remember the launch for 5S with Telecom?

I think they had some stock for the launch date (same day you could order on Apple store), but I could be wrong.

Certainly did for the 4S (haven't bought one since) but I don't know whether they were available at retail nationwide or only in "flagship" shops.

Anyone know why it says my original post has been changed by "Bighammer"?

If its like  the past ones I assume it'll be available launch day. Went to the iPhone 5 launch at the Victoria St store in Auckland CBD, was an interesting experience.

Thinking of buying from Apple directly this year as not too keen on signing a contract. But if Spark offers it on prepaid/pay monthly right away I'll switch to pay monthly and stay with them most likely.

Yep, that'll be because I requested that a mod add a question mark to the title - the thread looked authoritative from the home page, when it was actually only asking.

If the previous launches are anything to go by (my personal view and I don't know anything about the launch)

- It will be offered to postpaid customers only on a term contract
- There will be limited stock of the larger phones (64gb or if Apple are making a larger version??) will only have a few in each store
- After a few weeks/months once the stock becomes available and then it's offered prepaid, to purchase outright or deferred payment over 12 months against your Spark account without a contract.
- The prices won't be advertised until a few days before launch

Feel free to search geekzone to see the 5S, 5 and 4S launches and the timings that happened around them.

I doubt this launch will be any different.

For the iPhone 5S launch, Spark had stock on day one (Friday October 25) and were selling them instore on open term plans (pay monthly but no contracts), but only if you chose interest free payments. I assume this was done to get people onto the network under the assumption that they'll stick around as paying customers for the 24 months of interest free payments. It definitely got me on board and ended my 10+ year relationship with vodafone (who were only seling the 5S on 24 month Red
contracts - gross!).

I'm hoping it will be much the same with the iPhone 6.

Afaik if you order from Apple then it should be sent out on launch day anyway. The only benefit of getting it from a Spark store is if you're getting a handset discount with your plan.

That's not how it's worked in the past; typically even if you order within an hour of the "Buy now" button going live, there's a 2-3 week shipping delay. Once it ships it's usually overnight from HK or Sydney, but it's definitely not Day 1.

so if you going term just wait to pick it up. if on prepay, better to preorder with apple who shipped around 2 weeks after release, so in a way faster than the shop, if you must.

Just reading through the news online - it appears that some of the orders have been pushed back into October so it'll be interesting to see whether NZ has been given a allocated amount or whether we'll be fighting over the scraps.
