Hi,

So, I have joined the virtual queue with my daft-looking emoji doing the hard-yards, all ready to collect my iPhone 6 on 26th.

Can someone please clarify (ideally from Spark or someone-in-the-know) if I can grab an iPhone 6 outright on the day?

There's' no official information I can find on this on the sparkeq.co.nz site.

Thanks,
Peter

Really keen to know too.

Or even if it has to be purchased with deferred payment on open term plan.

You can't buy outright on the day, But can go Ultra Open with Deferred payments over 12 or 24 Months or go with a  24 Month subsided/fixed term plan .

I can't see anything customer facing online etc but I do work for Spark, We have been advised it will be available to Ultra Open if taking up 12 or 24 Month deferred payments. Though a little disclaimer, anything *could* change before release on the 26th

There was a post on Spark Facebook page confirming this but can't find it sorry!

This seems to be correct, from what they've said on their FB page (link).

I get the feeling there will be a lot of unclaimed emojis and iPhones then on Friday morning. They should have made it explicit when promoting the emoji queue.

Spark: Hey Daniel, I am so sorry I got that wrong, you can only buy on Pay Monthly Ultra Mobile plans at launch. Apologies for giving the wrong information, if you have any questions please private message me and can help you out. Cheers, Rosie

I'm not so sure though, even then its a bit ambiguous because it just says it can be sold on Pay Monthly Ultra mobile plans. And pay monthly ultra plans are available on both contract and open terms. I wish they'd just put us out of our misery D;

I work for a spark dealer,
You are correct ATM they will be available on a 24 mth ultra plan or open term provided that you pay the phone off over 12/24 mths..

However the big kicker is that if you decide to cancel the open term you will forfeit the payment term.

But IIRC you're able to cancel it and pay off the remaining payments in one go without incurring fees or anything?

You will still need to pay for the current month

Rules have changed today. Will now only be available on 24 month fixed term plans on launch day. Open plans at a later date.

Any word on when they plan on telling the public? Or will they wait until we get to the counter and swipe our cards?

And this is exactly why I asked the question.

No communication, nothing. I could've been waiting at 7am.

Spark, please burn my emoji.

Just got a call from Spark because I was in the emoji queue.

They were confirming they are only selling it on 24 month contract on Friday, and wanted to know if I was still interested.

How far are you up the queue and what did you order?
Did you request one of the less-available options maybe and thats why they want you on a contract?
