In a NZ Herald article this morning, Peter Griffin commented that new Telecom boss Paul Reynolds is:

"...happy about Telecom's move to shift its headquarters to Auckland, because the weather will be better there."

Personally I would like to see the headquarters in Dunedin, the colder weather might keep them at their desks more rather than the endless rounds of lattes in the streetside cafes.

How do the rest of you geeks feel about this? I appreciate that many of you are based in Wellington, isn't this a bit of a slap in the face for the windy city?

Of course, one could argue that Telecom executives can work from anywhere, with Wifi email, video conferencing, VoIP etc. - provided they're not upgrading the network...

Auckland... isn't that another country? So we're outsourcing TNZ headquarter to Auckland then? Sounds like none of Telecom products are New Zealand-based anymore... (hehe)

I resent that comment!!! Dunedin isn't that cold. Besides if they moved to Dunedin there are plenty of streetside cafes here for them to enjoy their lattes at.

Right, because quality of life of the staff counts for nothing. As long as the CEO likes the weather.
