Have a look at this thread. You need to remove all existing connections before creating a new one, or it gets messed up.

thanks was just editing my first post to say i had read that and still cant autheticate to isp. supposedly i have a public ip.

a couple of thing im unclear of where they are meant to be set up

VPI: 0
VCI: 110
VLAN ID: 10
Encapsulation: 802.1Q
PCP / QoS Marking: 0

I was so excited today thinking this is the bees knees router for me, now feel a bit deflated.

If you followed the guide, removed all connections then added a new one, you won't need to input any of the settings. They will all be correct by default.

If it's not authenticating, and you've followed that guide, get in touch with our support team via our website and we can investigate.

Cheers

It's nice once you set it up. Setting it up is not easy.

your telling me :-)

ive configured it as ive been told.

starting to regret the modem purchase and going with bigpipe, considering cancelling the service despite the costs involved in selling a used modem and fees with other ISPS. just too hard basket and cant wait days/weeks to get it sorted.

Hey hey, slow down buddy. Just because the modem you bought isn't setting up properly isn't the best justification for wanting to leave your ISP (regardless of what ISP it is, I would still have said the same thing). NF4V's are pretty difficult to setup first time and are known for being like that. Once they're up and running they are amazing though :)

Side note: I imagine you wouldn't be waiting a few days/weeks to get this resolved, when you sent through your support ticket it would have told you the average time to response. Can't remember the last time I saw broadband queries under 30 minutes iirc.

oh so support is 24/7 even on long weekends?

i think its just as much my fault, even having worked in internetworking departments in previous jobs i think i overestimated my ability to get a non supported isp connection setup and i should have asked more about the router and how hard it is to set up prior to buying it.

so its my fault really. just sad :-(

well its 945 now and im still waiting response so.............

might try another email.

the authentication should be AUTO?

strangely when creating the WAN setting as per instructions from BP, i set it up it asks me for the default gateway which i set as my PTM ppp.01, then it asks me to set a default DNS, the only available one is also my ppp.01 s I chose that. does that sound right?

Well I fixed it at about 10am. I had accidentally done the basic set up and when i went through to delete them and re add it, some of the settings had stayed. So I factory reset, followed instructions to the word and bling bling green lights.

Again it wasnt bigpipes fault at all for not looking into the device before buying it. The only reason I would have left would have been if I couldnt get it going in a weeks time etc, which would not have been bigpipes fault, simply low user knowledge on setting up a device.

I had support emails but realised they were on my other email account hence why I missed them, again my error. embarassed
