now i am leaving tauranga, to the big smoke auckland where fiber does not exist yet frown.

vdsl seems to be an option - applied to join bigpipe. i have my rock solid netgear router serving me for 5 years - adsl / fiber (untagged).

what will be the BEST solution for this vdsl?

i know most here like draytek, but what will really be the best solution? i hate dealing with double NAT etc

asus ac68u? draytek + netgear?

one more thing, any chance bigpipe make the vdsl offering as cheap as vodafone vdsl at $85? tongue-out

Draytek modem is the best.

You set it up in bridge mode, so your router would be the only thing doing NAT.

Vodafone's VDSL is $85+a mobile plan of at least $39

I an hoping for all in one solution.

Netcomm NF4V
Draytek 2760
Huawei 659

Any of these would do the trick - there's really no best without knowing what's important to you.

Asus DSL-N66U would be my pick.

quite a few to choose from if you want an 'all-in-one'.  Asus N66 is good I understand.
I use the Netcomm NF4V.  Very solid, cheaper than the Asus, although the setup is a minor pain and whilst the GUI does have pretty much everything you need, it's not especially intuitive to use.

However I haven't used the Asus so I have no basis for comparison.

Zyxel 8324 Would be the device I'd recommend.
